Brass Bands England (BBE) have announced the launch of the first-ever Brass Band Week. The objective of this new, annual initiative is to raise awareness of brass bands, their activities and everything our musical medium has to offer.

Brass Band Week has been scheduled to run from 6th to the 14th July 2024 and BBE are inviting bands across the nation to take part by registering their event via the BBE website.

With support from Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, participating bands will gain access to valuable resources, including marketing support for their event and specialised training.

Can My Band Enter Brass Band Week?

Any events featuring brass bands or brass playing, from specially organised concerts to open rehearsals or education workshops can be registered as part of Brass Band Week. Simply register your event via the BBE website and they will take care of the rest!

What are the Benefits of Taking Part in Brass Band Week?

As well as raising awareness of brass bands, Brass Band Week aims to connect audiences with bands including opportunities to support a band, hear performances, or begin playing themselves.

Speaking about the event, BBE Chair said:

“Imagine a UK-wide festival of exciting brass band events for people of different ages, backgrounds and interests; offering the opportunity for new audiences to discover the joy of a brass band through hundreds of events in parks, concert halls and on local high streets. Now, that’s something I’d love to be a part of!”

Alongside increased awareness and new audience opportunities, brass bands who submit their event can also expect to benefit from:

  • National PR campaign

  • Paid advertising

  • Prizes for best events

  • Social media marketing

  • Listings distribution

  • Brass Band Week merchandise

  • Training, support and case studies

  • Free resources to help people learn about brass bands

How to Register Your Event for Brass Band Week

Anybody can register their event for free - you don’t have to be a member of BBE to take part in Brass Band Week. Simply upload your listing via the Brass Band Week event listing form (click here to visit).

Your submission will then be moderated by a member of the Brass Band Week team. BBE will send an email response within 5 working days of your submission to confirm the inclusion of your event.

“I hope that as many bands as possible will be able to take up this opportunity to widen their reach by participating, for free, in this new national campaign. Together, we can make more of an impact to shine a light on the brilliance of brass bands.”

Mike Kilroy, BBE Chair
