LOUD AND PROUD
THE STORY OF IT'S NOT A TRUMPET
Hey! I'm Liv, a brass player for nearly 20 years, who set up a brass band blog when I was eighteen, which thought no one would read, but, instead opened the door for a career as a professional content creator and built a community united by our love for brass bands!
MY BRASS BAND HISTORY
I'm proud to currently be the Assistant Principal Cornet for the Rainford Band. My playing history started with Old Hall Community Band when I was seven, where I progressed to Principal Cornet at the age of thirteen. From there I played with the Old Hall Brass Band (the senior band within the organisation) progressing to Principal Cornet there when I was 16. At the age of 18 I progressed my career and was lucky to play with a wide range of brilliant bands, including both competitive and youth ensembles. Namely, I've played for Foden's Youth, North West Youth, Eccles Borough, Leyland and Freckleton and Wingates Bands over my 20 year career, before settling at Rainford Band in 2024.
IT'S NOT A TRUMPET : A QUICK TIMELINE
I created It's Not a Trumpet when I was eighteen and was looking for a space to share my thoughts and experiences within the brass band community. The word 'band geek' was an understatement! Little did I know that this little blog would lead to amazing opportunities promoting British brass banding, as well as a career in content creation!
From funny stories to resources and advice pieces - this little blog has developed a lot since I first created it and I hope that it provides both entertainment for fellow 'banders' and insight into our world for those who are curious to find out more about brass bands!
