Brass Bands England Introduces New Future Leaders' Programme
Empowering Youth Band Leaders to Develop the Next Generation
Brass Bands England (BBE) have announced the launch of their new Future Leaders’ Programme; a pioneering initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of youth band leaders.
This comprehensive, year-long programme is designed to offer aspiring leaders a transformative training experience, encompassing practical workshops, ongoing mentorship, peer networking opportunities, and support towards achieving the esteemed RSL Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Music and Performing Arts Learning.
Fostering Talent through Brass Foundations
This innovative programme is an integral component of BBE's acclaimed Brass Foundations education initiative, facilitated by the organisation's Youth Development Brass Specialists nationwide.
Sheila Allen, Youth Development Brass Specialist at BBE, outlined the significance of community band leaders in sustaining musical education amidst resource constraints:
"Our community band leaders deliver valuable musical learning in a time of stretched resources and weakened provision in schools, and create the fuel to ensure the future of brass banding - they are so important!"
Equipping Leaders for Success
Ideal for individuals with prior experience in education or community youth settings, the Future Leaders’ Programme aims to empower participants with the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary to excel as proficient and inspiring youth band leaders. Candidates embarking on this journey are expected to commit to a year-long schedule of training, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
While the course primarily focuses on guiding learners in their initial year of musical exploration, the acquired skills are universally applicable to working with learners of diverse abilities.
Formal Recognition of Achievement
Collaborating with RSL Awards, the programme provides participants with the esteemed RSL Level 3 Certificate, offering formal recognition of their accomplishments in the field of music education.
Speaking about the programme, David Jones, Senior Business Development Manager at RSL Awards, said:
"We are delighted to be working with Brass Bands England to provide the Future Leaders’ Programme with a globally-recognized qualification."
Together, BBE and RSL Awards aim to inspire the next generation of players and reinforce the vital role of music education in society.
