Enjoy an Evening of Great Brass Band Music for Charity

Looking for an evening of fantastic brass band music performed by some top brass band musicians whilst supporting two fantastic charities? Then you’re in luck, as RNCM student, Conductor of the Lostock Hall Training Band and Assistant Principal of the Rainford Band, Olivia Hurst, has organised a fantastic Spring Charity Concert on Sunday the 22nd March in aid of East Lancashire Hospice and Lostock Hall Training & Beginner Band.

Band Together for a Good Cause

For her final Creative Project at the Royal Northern College of Music, Olivia decided to not only create an event that shows off some of the best players banding has to offer, but also creates a positive impact for her local community. All proceeds from the all-star Spring Charity Concert will go towards two charities that are close to her heart:

East Lancashire Hospice

It costs over £10,000 a day to run the services at the East Lancashire Hospice. As a registered charity, these funds are essential to provide care for patients with life limiting illnesses, covering the costs of nursing, support staff and specialised facilities. Both Olivia and her brother, Matthew, solo Baritone for the Rainford Band and representative for the NYBBGB on the Besson Horizons programme, played around the streets of the Ribble Valley in 2020 to spread Christmas cheer and raise money for the hospice, so it was a natural choice as one of the benefitting charities.

Lostock Hall Training and Beginner Band

Olivia is the conductor of the Lostock Hall Training Band and a former member of the organisation’s senior band. The Training Band aims to inspire anybody of any age to learn to play a brass instrument and keep the brass band movement alive for future generations. Funding the band isn’t easy and every penny counts to keeping it running and offering opportunities for future members to learn an instrument.

All-star Band

The band providing the evening's entertainment will be feature players from brilliant bands from around the country including:

  • Blackburn and Darwen Band

  • Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band

  • Foden's Band

  • Hammonds Band

  • KNDS Fairey Band

  • Lancashire Youth Brass Band
