New All-Female Brass Ensemble Set to Inspire Young Musicians

A powerful, new all-female brass and percussion ensemble is set to make its mark on the world of music and inspire young musicians across the UK and beyond.

Expanding Opportunities for Young Women in Music

‘Dynamic’, a newly-formed 11-piece ensemble, brings together exceptionally talented young brass and percussion players from across the UK. Founded by John Squires Evans, the group’s mission is to showcase gifted female brass and percussion players and expand opportunities for young women in music, and use performance as a vehicle for education, outreach and social impact.

The ensemble plans to deliver concerts, workshops and educational events throughout the UK, encouraging more young girls to consider taking up brass instruments, while raising the profile of emerging female performers.

Speaking about the new ensemble and its plans, John Squires Evans, the band’s founder said:

“We want to make brass & percussion playing more visible, more accessible, and more inspiring for young girls. There is so much talent out there and Dynamic is about creating opportunities, building confidence and showing what’s possible.”

Alongside performance work, Dynamic also supports its members in using their musical activity as part of their volunteering commitments for programmes, such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and other community initiatives.

Growing Support and Future Plans

Dynamic has already secured three sponsors and is actively seeking additional partners to support performances, outreach programmes and the ensembles long-term development.

Organisations and businesses interested in championing young musicians and music education are invited to collaborate with the group as it develops its programme of concerts and educational work.

Looking ahead, the ensemble is planning a Brass & Percussion Day in 2026. The event will feature workshops, a concert and a massed band performance designed to bring together players of all ages and abilities.

International Outreach in Uganda

Dynamic’s ambitions extend beyond the UK. In August, a quintet from the ensemble will travel to Kampala to work with the charity, Brass for Africa, which uses music education to support disadvantaged children and young people.

During the visit the musicians will collaborate with The Tayside Pearls, an all-girl band made up of Brass for Africa players from Uganda and Rwanda. The partnership will include shared workshops, performances and cultural exchange.

Alongside funding the trip, Dynamic is also raising additional funds to transport brass instruments, percussion equipment, and sheet music to Kampala to support Brass for Africa’s ongoing work.

“We are extremely proud of our Tayside Pearls band,” said Jim Trott MBE, founder of Brass for Africa, “This opportunity to share musical experiences with the visiting Dynamic musicians from the UK is very exciting and will be hugely inspiring for all involved.”

How to Support

An official Dynamic page will launch in the coming weeks, providing ways for individuals and organisations to support the ensemble through donations, sponsorship, instrument pledges and fundraising events.

With ambitions to create an impact both in the UK and internationally, Dynamics aims to position itself as a movement designed to empower young women, build confidence through music, and create lasting change through performance and education.
