Bandamonium to expand its festival calendar with new seaside event in Eastbourne

Bandamonium has announced that it is expanding its popular, free brass band festival to Eastbourne on 28th August 2027, which aims to bring brass bands and communities together on the south coast.

Bandamonium Eastbourne will become the third festival in the organisation’s growing calendar, joining events in Devon and Yorkshire, as part of its mission to celebrate brass band music and bring bands and communities together.

The event will also trial a new festival format, with greater involvement from local organisers whilst retaining the community-focused ethos at the heart of Bandamonium.

Bandamonium Eastbourne to Bring Brass to the South Coast

The new festival is being developed in collaboration with host band, Eastbourne Silver Band and representative from Wealden Brass, Kathy, with plans already underway to bring the celebration of brass banding to the seaside town.

For Eastbourne Silver Band, the event represents an opportunity to welcome bands from across the region and beyond, showcasing the talent, creativity and community spirit of the brass band world.

Marcus Pant, Musical Director of Eastbourne Silver Band said:

“Eastbourne Silver Band are excited and proud to be part of the first Bandamonium in the South East. As the festival grows around the country, this is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the love and community of brass banding. Eastbourne Silver Band welcomes working closely with the festival team and fellow bands to help create a truly memorable annual celebration. Together, they will showcase the incredible talent, creativity and community spirit at the heart of brass banding.”

A New Festival Format for Bandamonium

Bandamonium Eastbourne will trial a new approach to organising its festivals, involving more local people in the planning and delivery of the event. The idea gained momentum after Kathy from Wealden Brass approached Bandamonium to explore the possibility of bringing the festival to the south coast.

Reflecting on how the plans developed, Kathy said:

“When I first approached Bandamonium last year to enquire if they would considerexploring the possibility of extending Bandamonium to the south coast, I had no ideahow the idea would be received or how it would snowball!  This is an amazingopportunity to welcome brass bands to return to Eastbourne from across the counties both near and far.  As a member of Wealden Brass, I really look forward toworking closely with Eastbourne Silver Band and Bandamonium to aspire to make Bandamonium Eastbourne a truly fantastic and memorable annual festival event”
