How to Enter the 2024 Pemberton Band Solo Contest

The Pemberton Band 2024 solo contest is set to be a fantastic opportunity for brass players of all ages.

The inaugural event will take place from 10am on Saturday 20th April at the Pemberton Band Room.

The idea of the solo competition was born from a former member of the Pemberton Band, Barbara Littler. She had always wanted to organise a slow melody to encourage players, especially younger ones to come together and play. A solo prize will be awarded in her memory.

Star Adjudicators

Participants will benefit from experienced adjudication from two world-renowned soloists and members of the Cory Band, Helen and Glyn Williams.

As well as a fantastic opportunity to compete, this contest offers the chance to receive feedback from two of the best musicians in the banding world. So, if you're prepping for grade exams or recitals for GCSE, A levels or Degree qualifications - this is a great opportunity for a test run of your repertoire and to learn from the best!

Following the competition both Helen and Glyn will host a masterclasses and star in a gala concert with the Pemberton Band in the evening.
