Opportunities to Join Brass Bands England's Heritage Projects

Brass Bands England (BBE) have announced four new opportunities to join the team, across a range of experience levels and all heritage-based roles.


The positions of Heritage Project Officer, Brass Bands Archivist, Marketing and Communications Officer (Heritage) and Brass Band Week Project Officer are all part-time and currently open to applications.


Brass Band Archivist

  • Part time - fixed term, 21 hours per week from Jan to Dec 2026

  • £30,322 pro rata (£12,129)

  • Deadline - Mon 3rd November - 9am

The Brass Band Archivist will be based primarily at Heritage Quay, the home of the Brass Bands Archive, in the University of Huddersfield, and will be responsible for the ongoing management of BBE's archive collection. An ARA accredited qualification (or equivalent experience) is essential for this role.


Heritage Project Officer

  • Part Time - fixed term - 17.5 hours per week until Dec 2026

  • £24,000 (pro rata - £12,000)

  • Deadline: Mon 17th November - 9am

A fixed-term opportunity, ideal for a candidate with some experience working on arts and culture and heritage projects. The right candidate will work closely with the Heritage Programme Manager and Archivist on an exciting and engaging programme of outreach activities, consultation events and exhibitions to bring The Brass Bands Archive to life. This role requires travel to attend events across the country.


Marketing and Communications Officer (Heritage)

  • Part time - 90 days work between January 2026 and December 2026 - approx: 1.5 - 2 days per week) - preference for working on a Monday or Thursday to fit with other members of the project team

  • Fixed project fee of £9000

  • Monday 17th November - 9am

This freelance opportunity is ideal for a candidate with some experience working on arts and culture or heritage projects. You'll work closely as part of the Marketing and Heritage teams on the marketing and communications supporting an exciting and engaging programme of outreach activities, consultation events and exhibitions to bring The Brass Bands Archive to life.


Brass Band Week Project Officer

  • Part time - freelance

  • 420 hours - 12th January - 7th August

  • Fixed project fee of £7000

Supporting the planning and delivery of Brass Band Week 2026, this freelance opportunity is ideal for a freelancer with some experience working on arts and culture or heritage projects. You'll work as part of the Marketing team, delivering an exciting national campaign, connecting with and promoting our member bands.
